Regular Meeting:
The regular monthly meeting of the Mississippi Valley Firefighters Association was held at the Sherrard Fire
Station on September 18, 2008. The meeting was called to order by President Dave Liebovitz at 6:45 P.M. The
Pledge of Allegiance was recited, then roll call . Roll call showed 12 members from 10 departments were present.
The meeting broke for everyone to get their meal, then Deb and Jill from the MDA Association gave a presentation on
the fill the boot fund raising campaign that they use. Paula Rath from the Alive Training Center took the floor and
explained the classes that she teaches and how to get in touch with her to schedule First Responder and CPR or
CPR Instructors class’s.

The meeting reconvened at 7:28 P.M. and a moment of silence for fallen firefighters was observed. The minutes
of the last meeting were read, motioned to accept, voted on and accepted. It was brought up that the changes to the
meeting schedule that was made last month to change the months off from January and February to July and August
would work out better if we took June and July off instead. This would give us more time to schedule and plan fall fire
schools and also would work out better with the year round school schedules. A motion to implement the change was
made, voted on, and passed. The treasures report was read and the checking account balance was $ 882.38 and
the savings account balance was $4393.94. Motion to accept treasures report was made, voted on, and passed.
It is time to start nominations for the office of President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasure for the upcoming
year. Dave Liebovitz was nominated for President, Mark Carton was nominated for Vice President, and Dale Mueller
was nominated for Secretary/Treasure. A motion to close the nominations was made, seconded, voted on and
passed.

Dave Liebovitz said thank you to the Sherrard Fire Department for hosting the meeting at their station. Next meeting
will be at the Hillsdale Fire Station on October 16, 2008. General membership meeting starting at 6:30 PM. Meeting
adjourned at 7:45 PM.
