November 20, 2008 Regular Meeting: The regular monthly meeting of the Mississippi Valley Firefighters Association was held at the Hampton Fire Station on November 20, 2008. The meeting was called to order by President Dave Liebovitz at 6:32 P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, then roll call. Roll call showed 18 members from 9 departments were present. The meeting broke for everyone to eat their meal and Don Adams talked about accountability on the fireground. After everyone finished, a short break was taken. The meeting reconvened at 7:30 P.M. and a moment of silence for fallen firefighters was observed. The minutes of the last meeting were read, motioned to accept, voted on and accepted. The treasure report was read and the checking account balance was $ 580.13 and the savings account balance was $4397.22. Motion to accept treasures report was made, voted on, and passed. There were no new nominations for the office of President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasure for the upcoming year. Dennis Litwiler and Vicky LeClair were renominated to the board of directors. Due to no new nominations, the present board was reelected by acclimation. The Smoke Alive trailer has not been started on yet. The wiring will be fixed and then it will be taken to Hillsdale to store for the winter. There was a short discussion on MVFA honorary members that are invited to the annual Mississippi Valley Fire Chiefs Associations’ Christmas party. MVFA will split the cost of the honored guests’ meal with the Chiefs Association. Dale Mueller stated that he had been contacted by Doug DuPree of the Rock Island Fire Department about making available training in Ice Rescue. He is qualified to teach such classes and is willing to set up training dates. The MABAS 39 TRT team is going to try to start another round of operations level training and are looking for people interested. Anyone interested is to contact Dale Mueller for information. Don Hampton brought up that we need to come up with ideas for training to go along with the monthly meeting to try and get attendance up at the meetings. Everyone is supposed to see what they could come up with along this idea.
