Regular Meeting:
The regular monthly meeting of the Mississippi Valley Firefighters Association was held at the Port Byron Fire Station
on May 21, 2009. Deb. from the local MDA office and Brie Barrick from the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center
were guest speakers for the evening. The meeting was called to order at 6:45 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll
call. The roll call showed 16 members from 9 departments were present. Everyone filed through the food line and then
turned the meeting over to Deb and Brie. After eating and a short break, the meeting reconvened at 7:16 PM with a
moment of silence for fallen firefighters. The minutes for the previous meeting were read, motioned to accept, voted on
and passed. Treasures report was given, checking balance was $2042.66 and savings balance was $4404.51. Motion
to accept treasures report made, second, voted on, and passed. It was brought up at the board meeting to postpone
the fire school until September due to not receiving the asbestos report. With not having a meeting until August, the
board decided to wait until September 12 &13, 2009 to hold the school.
Smoke trailer needs a couple tires and brake work done yet. Motion made, seconded, voted on and passed to give Bob
Milikin $100.00 to try and get pickup moved from Seaton to Viola car lot. A motion was made, voted on, and passed to
pay the insurance bill when it finally arrives. The new fire chief of Hampton, Tim Sall, was present and introduced to all.

Dave Liebovitz said thank you to everyone that attended the meeting and the Port Byron fire department for hosting the
meeting. Next meeting will be at the Annawan Fire Station on August 20, 2009. Board meeting starting at 6:00 PM,
general membership meeting starting at 6:30 PM. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM.
