May 15, 2008 Regular Meeting: The regular monthly meeting of the Mississippi Valley Firefighters Association was held at the Moline Central Station for the Moline Second Alarmers on May15, 2008. The meeting was called to order by President Dave Liebovitz at 6:37 P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance and then roll call was done. Roll call showed 16 members from 11 departments were present. The meeting broke for everyone to eat and Chris Christofferson gave a short farewell speech and then toured the facilities. The meeting reconvened at 7:17 P.M. A moment of silence was observed for fallen firefighters, then the minutes of the last meeting were read, motioned to accept, voted on and accepted. The treasure's report was read. The checking account balance was $867.26 and the savings account balance was $4146.04. Motion to accept treasures report was made, voted on, and passed. An Honorary Membership clause was discussed in the board meeting and the wording worked out. Will send copy of by-laws out with changes for all to see and take comments or suggestions before voted on. Ray Palazenski was suppose to be at the meeting to distribute new Emergency Books but had prior commitment. John Swan attended the National Firefighters Conference in Alaska. A CD of what other states give to their firefighters will be distributed shortly. We have an opening on the board. Shad McKay has resigned for personnel reasons. An Ethanol class held in Reynolds has been discussed and is underway to get setup.
