Regular Meeting:
The regular monthly meeting of the Mississippi Valley Firefighters Association was held at the Carbon Cliff
Fire Station on April 17, 2008. The meeting was called to order by President Dave Liebovitz at 6:45 P.M. following
the Mississippi Valley Fire Chiefs meeting. The Pledge of Allegiance and then roll call was done. Roll call showed
23 members from 14 departments were present. The meeting broke for everyone to eat and Michael Phares from
Working Fire Emergency Services Training gave a presentation on Training programs on DVD and the Internet.
The meeting reconvened at 7:41PM.A moment of silence was observed for fallen firefighters, then the
minutes of the last meeting were read, motioned to accept, voted on and accepted. The treasure's report was
read. The checking account balance was $617.26 and the savings account balance was $4146.26. Motion to
accept treasures report was made, voted on, and passed.
The air pack trailer is in Sherrard and Illinois City would like to use it. After Illinois City is done, Aledo would
like it and then Carbon Cliff. A motion was made to have the board set up an honorary membership classification
to honor members that have contributed extensively to the Association. The board will discuss this at the next
meeting and report the decision. A plaque for Jeff Morris from Alexis Fire Equipment for past support was
discussed. Dale Mueller displayed some shirts and sweatshirts that were made using the Associations patch.
Price for the unit was $15.00@. John Swan and Larry Scott went to Springfield to attend the Legislative session
at the capitol where the new bills supporting the fire service were entered. Honor Guard upcoming parades:

Dave Liebovitz said thank you to the Carbon Cliff Fire Department for hosting the meeting at their station. Next
meeting will be at Moline Central Station on May 15, 2008. Board meeting at 6:00 PM, general membership
meeting starting at 6:30 PM. Meeting adjourned at 8:08 PM.
