Regular Meeting:
The regular monthly meeting of the Mississippi Valley Firefighters Association was held at a cargo bay at the
Quad City’s Airport Fire Station on April 16, 2009. The airport members brought the newest Striker aircraft fire-
fighting truck out to put on display and game a quick tour of the airport runways and taxiways before the meeting
started. Everyone started eating about 6:45 PM. After eating and a short break, Jeff Swan gave a slide show about
aircraft fires do’s and don’ts. This lasted till about 8:15 PM, and another short break was taken. The meeting was
called to order at 8:24PM. Roll call was taken and there were 18 members from 11 departments present. A moment
of silence was observed after roll call. No minutes were read because the secretary left the folder with the copies on
his desk. Treasures report was given, checking balance was 1891.66 and savings balance was $4408.07. Motion to
accept treasures report made, second, voted on, and passed. Quick discussion on fire school which is June 13,14.
Still waiting on asbestos report. John Swan will get Crest tire to check out the tires on the airpack-training trailer. Bill
from VFIS came with projected cost of this year’s insurance. It was brought up that no one should change the
placards on the semi-trailer. Local PD was concerned when they were turned to haz-mat.

Dave Liebovitz said thank you to everyone that attended the meeting and the Airport fire department for hosting the
meeting. Next meeting will be at the Port Byron Fire Station on May 21, 2009. Board meeting starting at 6:00 PM,
general membership meeting starting at 6:30 PM. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
